The nine types
Wings, and the types people mix up
Wings
In tradition, each type leans toward one of its two neighbors on the circle. There are eighteen wings, written like 4w5.
What the research says
The Enneagram is a self-reflection framework, not a validated clinical measure. A 2021 systematic review by Hook and colleagues found the evidence mixed: Enneagram type scores relate to Big Five personality traits in ways the theory predicts, while ideas like wings, lines and subtypes have little or no direct research support.
EnneaFox scores your answers with fixed rules and shows how close the other types came, so you can see when a result is clear and when it is not. Every guide on this site labels what comes from tradition and what comes from research.
Before you start
Is the EnneaFox Enneagram test free?
Taking the assessment is free and needs no sign-up, and the free result names your center. The full report, with your best-fit type, is a one-time payment of $7.95. There is no subscription.
How long does it take?
About 10 minutes for 60 items. There is no timer, and an unfinished attempt can be resumed on the same device.
Will it tell me my type for certain?
No test can. EnneaFox suggests a best-fit type from your answers and shows how close the other types came, so you can judge a close result for yourself.
Is this a diagnosis or a mental-health test?
No. EnneaFox is a self-reflection tool for adults 18 and over. It is not therapy, a mental-health screening or a diagnosis.
